On August 16, 2019 – Hollywood, CA – The self-taught singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist known asBAD CHILDshares his debut EPSign Upthrough21 EntertainmentandCapitol Recordsin the U.S.Sign Upis a collection of music to introduce the listener to the world ofBAD CHILDand sets the stage for the full LP, which will be released in 2020. The EP includes four previously released tracks, including the thunderous radio single“Breathing Fire”, as well as two brand new songs with voiceover clips that walk the listener through the narrative.
Sign Upwas mixed by Spike Stent (Frank Ocean, Muse, Beyonce, Coldplay) and was created as a project that combines influences and styles to reflect and comment on not just his own life, but also the experiences of his generation. BAD CHILDexplains,
“Sign Up centralizes around the modern human relationship. I really just needed to dissect myself and try and understand the context of my life. I was really inspired after using and seeing people use Tinder and how it affected them. The fact that you can look at an image of a human being and come up with a summation of their entire existence into a yes or no. I find that puzzling and interesting, how people can use each other like free trials. I was so interested in building a sound that was true to my soul. I’m very proud and excited for people to get a chance to listen and hopefully it leaves them with more questions than answers.”
Sign Uparrives on the heels of an impressive summer music festival run playing some of the world’s most prestigious line ups including Great Escape, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga. He is gearing up to head back to the U.K. for Reading and Leeds Festivals plus and a trip to Germany for Reeperbahn to finish up the circuit.BAD CHILDreturns home to join fellow Canadian, Grandson, for some shows on the west coast plus some headlining dates and a set at Sonic Field Day in Edmonton.
