VINTAGE OBSESSED

A little insight to the minds of this killer London brand

Where do you pull inspiration for your pieces?

We are obsessed with vintage clothing and love to use inspiration from retro styles in our collections – from 90s grunge, 70s rock and roll bands and classic movies, we love to pay homage to the past and add a contemporary twist to update our pieces and play on current trends.

Describe your creative process?

Our Ingredients meetings are a huge part of the process. The whole team will come together to share ideas of trends and looks we are feeling. This is the first stage of the process and is a great way to get the creative juices flowing. The design team will pull inspiration from our Ingredients meeting and begin designing the look and feel of the collection, incorporating elements of what we’ve all brought to the table. Our prints, graphics and motifs are all hand painted or drawn in-house to create truly stand-out looks.

When was the moment that you felt the brand was really taking off?

We love to see people make our pieces their own. We’ve had some amazing people wear the brand and we’re so grateful for the support. We’ve been very lucky to work with incredible retailers like ASOS and Topshop, and for us, seeing more people have access to our collections through them has been so exciting.

What is your favorite piece you ever created?

Our flared denim jumpsuit (part of our SS19 range) will go down in Sacred Hawk history as an all-round favorite. It’s easy to wear, but cut to flatter and make a bold statement. It sold out almost immediately and we have been trying to bring it back ever since! Keep an eye out in our A/W range for a fresh move on. 😉

Favorite fabric you love working with?

We love to play with texture and create combinations. With vintage inspiration at our core, wearable but iconic jersey and denim will often feature in our ranges, but incorporating our hand painted prints, contemporary shapes and showstopping embellishments mixes things up.

Who was your first major client/artist? How did it feel?

We have had some amazing people wear Sacred Hawk, but our biggest fan girl moments have definitely been working with Monami Frost, Nadia Lee and @redshiraz. Seeing them wear the brand was such a great moment or the whole team.

Any new collections/projects collabs?

Our exclusive Sacred Hawk x Topshop Collection launched in selected UK Topshop stores recently. We have mostly worked with online retailers so it is really great for the collection to be in a retail environment so our customers can look at and feel the pieces more closely. It has also been a great way of getting feedback on the collections.

What’s next for Sacred Hawk?

Our focus is to continue to grow our brand, and have some fun with it! We are still relatively young and really want to grow outside of the UK into other markets. We recently relaunched our Sacred Hawk Menswear range on ASOS, and we have some amazing jewelry and accessory lines launching as part of our Autumn/Winter collection. Watch this space.
